ŠKODA has confirmed prices and specifications for the new Fabia Estate ahead of its debut in spring 2015. Available in three trim grades: S, SE and SE-L, the third-generation Fabia Estate is priced from just £12,460 and offers a significant specification boost over the outgoing model.
Milton Keynes, 8th December 2014 – Entry-level S models feature six airbags, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth, Stop/Start and electric front windows as standard, while SE models (from £13,905 OTR) add manual air-conditioning, alloy wheels, Front assist, Arkamys surround sound package and Bolero radio with telephone control, Mirror Link, USB and SD card connections. SE models also include a three-spoke leather steering wheel, height adjustable driver and passenger seat, Maxi-DOT trip computer and black roof rails. Range-topping Elegance models (from £14,755 OTR) add even more features including, 16-inch alloy wheels, climate control air-conditioning, Light assistant, cruise control and KESSY – keyless entry system.

In addition to its generous equipment levels, the new Fabia features a striking new look, sector-best practicality, greater efficiency and a host of Simply Clever innovations. Utilising advanced MQB platform architecture, the new Fabia Estate performs the impossible by being larger and stronger than its best-selling predecessor, yet tipping the scales at up to 65kg less. This significant reduction, along with the introduction of cleaner EU6-compliant engines makes the new Fabia up to 17 per cent more efficient.

The Fabia Estate’s low running costs and reduced CO2 outputs are certain to appeal to fleet buyers. BiK rates start from just 14% with seven of the 17-strong range qualifying for zero rate road tax. The 1.2 TSI 90PS engine is expected to be the most popular with UK buyers.

Bigger, better and more practical
Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September, the new Fabia Estate builds on the strengths of its predecessor. Its boot volume of 530 litres (with the seats up) makes it the most spacious in the sector, while its maximum load volume of 1,395 litres puts rivals in the sectors above to shame.

And it’s not just sheer volume that makes the new Fabia Estate such a practical proposition. The 960mm loading floor is now wider than in the previous model while the tailgate opens to 1,900 mm and is 1,028 mm wide. The loading sill is only 611mm high, making loading the car up easy. The passenger area is also wider (+21 mm) and longer (by +8mm), and although the car is now slightly lower, there’s more headroom for the driver and front seat passengers.

The Estate has been a key part of the Fabia range since 2000 and accounts for 25% of Fabia sales in the UK. More than 1.1 million examples have been sold worldwide, confirming its appeal with buyers looking to combine exceptional load space with a compact frame and affordable price.

Alasdair Stewart, Brand Director for ŠKODA UK said: “The Fabia Estate has always represented terrific value for money and I’m delighted that we’re able to offer even more with the third-generation model. The Estate has always been key member of the Fabia family and I look forward to its arrival next year.”

The new ŠKODA Fabia has won the prestigious What Car? Car of the Year 2015 award, at a glittering ceremony in London, having also been named ‘Best Small Car’, while the ŠKODA Octavia has been named ‘Best Family Car’.

Milton Keynes, 8th January 2015 – It’s the second time that ŠKODA’s popular small car has won the top prize – the first generation Fabia won the award back in 2000.

The new ŠKODA Fabia – which was revealed to the public at the Paris Motor Show last October, and is in UK showrooms now – is the third-generation of ŠKODA’s popular small car. Since the first-generation Fabia went on sale in 2000, some 250,000 have found homes with British buyers, and 3.5 million have been sold worldwide.

Available in five-door Hatch and (from March) Estate forms, the new Fabia introduces innovative safety, comfort and infotainment systems to the segment. It features an expressive, dynamic design with smooth proportions, crystalline shapes and clear-cut lines. The new Fabia is also more spacious, stronger and more efficient than its predecessor, thanks both to significant weight-saving and the introduction of cleaner EU6-compliant engines that help to make it up to 17 per cent more efficient.

The award was collected by ŠKODA CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland, who said: ‘The new ŠKODA Fabia is, in every respect, simply more car and offers both innovative technology and emotionally-charged design. It is ideal for the modern, urban mobility of today. We are very confident that the new Fabia will write another chapter in the model’s success story, win over new customer groups and, as an important pillar of our growth strategy, further strengthen the brand.’

What Car? editor Jim Holder said: ‘The Fabia wins not only because it’s a superb small car that’s practical, well equipped and cheap to run, but also because of the rivals it has managed to dispose of in the process.

‘When you consider the strength of the competition the new Fabia has had to beat to top its class, it simply has to win.’

Director of ŠKODA UK, Alasdair Stewart, said: ‘We are delighted to have been given these accolades by What Car?. UK customers trust What Car? when they are buying a new car, and winning the Car of the Year award is the perfect introduction for the new Fabia on the UK market.

‘We’re excited about the Fabia; it’s a key model for our retailers and also for our customers. This award sets us up perfectly for the year ahead. The new Fabia’s just the start of another exciting year for ŠKODA – the new Fabia Estate will be here in March, and the new Superb will be on the roads in September. The buying experience is also going to be better than ever, thanks to our retailers transforming their showrooms with a new look.’

The ŠKODA brand has demonstrated its strength with five years of record growth, culminating in sales of 76,027 cars in the UK last year (some 10,000 more than in 2013), and over one million cars worldwide in the same period.
